Germinal GB & Ireland

Background

Germinal is a seed specialist providing market-leading solutions for the agricultural and amenity sectors. Operating directly in Great Britain, Ireland and New Zealand, Germinal has working partnerships in over 25 countries.

Germinal were on the lookout for a new web provider for their Irish, UK, and New Zealand websites. After an extensive search, they contacted Wibble to see if we would be a good fit and if we had the expertise for all of their requirements.

The Problem

The previous site was lacking in many modern features, including content management, site speed, usability, accessibility and many other features that needed to be looked at and improved with a matter of urgency.

New Climate Smart product range was being introduced in 2025, and the website needed to be in sync with the branding. The previous site utilised Visual Composer for publishing content but this was to be replaced by a native block editor in WordPress.

No elements of the previous site were usable from a code point of view. So an entire redesign and rebuild was required.

what we did

We worked in conjunction with another agency, JourneyFor, who were in charge of the brand identity, messaging, tone of voice and content et cetera. We are lucky to have worked with JourneyFor on a number of other web projects, and we have a good understanding of how each other’s processes operate.

Using the updated brand guidelines and tone of voice documents, we created completely unique concepts designed in Figma for the three different markets that Germinal were targeting. There was a huge emphasis on simplicity, usability, and accessibility. Our design team worked closely with Germinal and JourneyFor to ensure that all requirements from the brief were met.

We followed our web design and development process meticulously, carrying out information architecture and content mapping exercises to ensure that the site was entirely future-proof for content publication for the next number of years. We worked in very close contact with the client, ensuring that all stakeholders in the company were happy with the direction we were taking this project.

There were a large number of feature requests along with URL mapping and 301s, and all of these had to be designed, developed, and implemented with precision to ensure there was no drop in organic search results.

the results

The entire site was designed and developed in-house by the team at Wibble. Using the native WordPress block editor, we created a custom web framework that enables the client to rapidly create landing pages, content pages and product information with zero input from the team at Wibble.

We created three independent and unique websites that share a similar brand and approach to usability but with their own aesthetic to appeal to their respective markets.

Germinal sought out the best web design and development agency with a specialism in WordPress on the island of Ireland. After an extensive search, they came to Wibble. This is something that, as a company, we are exceptionally proud of.
