My first year at Wibble – Padraic
Our Project Manager - Padraic shares his experience of his first year at Wibble
“Content is king” is one of those phrases that gets used a lot in digital marketing and that is why it is imperative that you are constantly updating your website with fresh, valuable content. Publishing new material on your site consistently is one of the most effective ways to improve SEO. For WordPress websites especially, regularly adding blog posts, project showcases and case studies keeps your site relevant and gives search engines new material to crawl.
At Wibble, we’ve seen firsthand how important this is. There was a period a few months ago where our web design team and web development team were so focused on client projects that we let our own blog slide. We weren’t publishing new stories about our work or explaining our process and over time our Google ranking dropped. It was a reminder that SEO rewards momentum and without new content it’s easy to slip behind competitors who are more active when it comes to updating content.

Search engines want to give users the most relevant and timely results. When your website publishes new posts regularly you’re signalling that your site is active and engaging with current topics. That can help you climb higher in search results, especially if your content matches what people are searching for right now. Think of it as giving Google fresh reasons to recommend you.
Each new blog post or project page is an opportunity to target new keywords. For example, a case study about a recent site launch might allow you to naturally include terms like “custom WordPress design for small business” or “WordPress development for eCommerce.” Over time these new entries expand the range of keywords your site ranks for, building visibility across more search results. Creating content that reflects the work of our web design team or showcases technical output from our web development team is also a way of embedding SEO directly into the stories we want to share. You may have noticed that I have been targeting particular terms throughout this post. These are also the same terms I used throughout my previous blog posts.
Publishing new content isn’t just for search engines. It’s also beneficial for people. When visitors arrive on your site and see recent blogs, updated case studies and insights into our process it tells them your company is active and engaged. Fresh content also gives you a chance to share new ideas, answer common client questions and demonstrate your expertise in real time. That builds trust with potential consumers or clients.
While creating new content is the priority, updating existing posts still plays an important role. Revisiting older material to refresh statistics, replace broken links or expand on ideas helps maintain its value. Republishing updated posts can give those pages new life in search results. But we’ve learned that updates are most effective when paired with a steady flow of brand new content.
Adding content in sporadically isn’t enough. To keep SEO momentum, consistency matters. That’s why we now have a schedule for blog posts and project write-ups. So you can expect to see informative blogs from our web design team and web development team in the coming months. Over time we expect this rhythm to keep us at the top of search engine results pages and we’ve already started to see success with regular content updates.
It’s not enough to write a few blog posts and then ignore your website content for a long period of time in hope that the content gets you the visitors or conversions you want. Creating fresh content is one of the most reliable ways to build and sustain SEO success. Every new blog post, project story or insight gives search engines something current to index and gives readers another reason to trust your expertise. For us that lesson came through experience and it shapes how we approach content today.
If your company is struggling with search engine rankings, try implementing the checklist above and keep an eye on your rankings and conversions over the following months. You may also find that you will build better connections with your target audience.
