Background

Go Office design, manufacture, and deliver high-quality acoustic, filing and storage solutions across the UK and Ireland.

They approached Wibble to be their new web partners for a full website redesign, rebuild, migration, and support package.

As the leading web design and web development agency in Northern Ireland, this was a perfect project for Wibble to take on.

The Problem

The previous Go Office website was built in Umbraco and had reached end of life status. The previous site was lacking in many modern features, including: usability, accessibility, site speed and technical SEO.

The setup and structure of the previous CMS was also cumbersome and hard to use. With a relatively small number of Umbraco developers locally, the client was unable to have the site extended and developed further. The previous website really was finished.

what we did

After a number of initial meetings, we floated the idea of a full website redesign, rebuild, and migration of the site to WordPress. We undertook a large project of content mapping, UI/UX research, wireframes and concept development. Even at the concept stage, we were making considerations around SEO and crawling. Wibble are one of a very small number of web design agencies that make huge technical SEO decisions right from the outset of a project.

The approved concept was then fully developed in-house by our team of WordPress developers. As with all of our work, we didn’t use off-the-shelf WordPress themes and built a custom theme to accurately match the web design concept designed by our design team.

Our developers used the native WordPress blocks to build a modular framework, giving the client 100% control over layouts, navigation and functionality through the CMS without the need for Wibble’s involvement. This gives the site a future-proof approach and will ensure the client has a lower need for Wibble’s support going forward.

We also undertook a huge amount of technical SEO with 301 rules in place to ensure that the new website was as SEO friendly as we could make it from launch – we don’t treat technical SEO as something you just sprinkle on at the end with a plugin install. It’s something that’s baked into our custom WordPress themes from the outset.

the results

The site is unrecognisable from the previous Go Office website. We did not use a single element apart from the logo and brand colours from the previous version of the website.

The new Go Office website was a complete custom web design and development project built by Wibble Web Design in our Belfast studio. We don’t outsource our design or development work, so the client got to work directly with our hugely talented team of web designers, web developers and project managers.

The site is responsive, quick to load and has seen huge usability and accessibility improvements.

The site is now fully supported by Wibble on our Wibble Support Package. We will take care of all WordPress updates, along with plugin updates, hosting patches and security improvements needed throughout the life cycle of this project.
