St. Mary’s CBGS is an all-boys voluntary grammar school located on the Glen Road in West Belfast. It has a large school attendance of just over 1,100. Its old website was out dated, running an old version of Joomla and required an overhaul in order to communicate with pupils, staff and parents effectively.
The staff at St. Mary’s spoke to another long-term client of ours, the Abbey Grammar School Newry, and the Abbey sang the praises of WordPress in general but also the easy-to-use system that Wibble had developed for them a number of years ago.
The previous website was confusing for most users, the site-map was very hard to navigate with many pages with little or no content – the site had basic fundamental issues.
The site lacked basic communication tools like a calendar of events or an effective updates area. The previous site was so cumbersome to use and update, it effectively discouraged staff members of St Mary’s from using it.
From a technical point of view, the site was running a version of Joomla that was riddled with security holes and needed to be closed.
What we did
We designed and developed this website with ease of access and user experience in mind. The client required it to be easily updated when adding events, news stories, and galleries. We created the main layout of pages but also provided the client with templates that can used in various sections.
